Sports Pack

The students love to play Basketball, Volleyball and Badminton in the afternoons and in between classes. A donation of just USD $20 / PHP 860.00 will go a long way in helping the Farm School Sports Club buy much needed sports equipment.

Education Pack

Help kids learn by contributing to an education pack! For USD $50.00 / PHP 2,150 you can help the school purchase an assortment of library books, art supplies and teacher’s reference materials.

Make Music Gift Pack

Support the Farm Schools Music Program by donating USD $20.00 / PHP 860.00 towards buying much needed instruments for the school band. The school would like to get a drum kit and electric guitar.

Medical Gift

Many families is rural Oriental Mindoro cannot afford to buy medicine when their children are sick. A gift of just USD $25.00 / PHP 1,075 will help the school purchase much needed medical supplies to treat common illnesses among students.

Livestock Production for Sustainability

As part of our cattle breeding and fattening program within the school’s farm, we showcase 2-3 heads of cattle and the rest are distributed among cluster families as part of our community development program. Families are tasked to look after the fattening of the cattle and in return they are able to raise an additional income of PHP 5,000 per year from each sale. The extra funds can assist them with their children’s educational expenses such as college tuition and capital for a small enterprise.

Since 2009, GIYF-FFS has successfully raised 25 heads of cattle and 6 organic pigs. The school is also able to derive substantial income from cattle and hog sales especially during times when the school funds are limited or scarce; the proceeds go towards augmenting school expenditures. We aim to keep a stock of fifty(50) cattle for the school’s trust fund building.

Bahay Kubo Project

As part of GIYF-FFS Environmental Education Centre (EEC) program, we aim to build a traditional hut built with natural materials to showcase an option of low-cost, sustainable housing to the community. Not only will the house be a demonstration of traditional architecture, but it will also serve as a new home to GIFY-FFS staff member, Farmer Milo and his family!

A contribution of USD $50.00 / PHP 2,150 will go a long way in buying much needed building supplies for the project.

Adopt-a-Tree project

We are introducing the ‘Adopt-a-Tree’ project to encourage sponsors to support scholars of the Family Farm School. A one off donation of USD $40 will go to a scholar and their families to help with some of their educational expenses. In return, the scholar will plant and maintain a tree for sponsors. Beyond the sponsor’s financial assistance, they will also become a crucial part in promoting biodiversity and conservation.

Student Scholarship (for one year)

Send a student to the GIYF-FFS and you will equip them with valuable skills and knowledge that will enable them to lift themselves out of poverty. The 2012/13 school year will see up to 150 students enrol and GIYF-FFS aims to provide scholarships, particularly to indigenous students. 

Community Enterprise Development

The Family Enterprise Project (FEP) is a vehicle from which GIYF-FFS can directly tackle its poverty alleviation mission by engaging students to identify and pursue sustainable livelihood projects with their families as an integrated component of the school’s curriculum. 

Under its Community Development Program, GIYF-FFS provides additional socially-relevant technologies and skills training that open opportunities, particularly for women, to engage in small enterprises by becoming involved in the production, marketing and sales of a variety of health-friendly recipes and locally-abundant products. Calamansi Marmalade, Malunggay Cookies, Turmeric Tea and Soya products such as tofu and soya milk, are cost-efficient and is also in line with GIYF-FFS’ promotion of Natural Health principles. 

Keep it Running!

Each year GIYF-FFS has to source around USD $14,000 / PHP 700,000 from donors.  This is one of many challenges the school is constantly facing.  Help make this challenge a little easier by donating a gift of USD $40.00 /  PHP 1,720.

Career Guidance Program

In responding to the needs of GIYF-FFS senior students, we have designed a Career Guidance Program to assist them regarding their options after graduating from high school. Here, we provide Counselling to discuss their current concerns and dispositions, Career and College Campaigns to give them an idea of what awaits them after leaving the school and a study tour of local colleges. A donation of just USD $35.00 / PHP 1,500 will help support one student partake in this fantastic field trip.
